The last comment was over a year old. I feel like a loser for watching
this. :/ I’m a teen girl that just discovered his music this year.

  • Tim Hulsey says:

You got the reference: In “Gift of the Magi” the wife sells her hair to a wig-maker.

  • charlesns says:

I don’t get the wig on a chain reference – I’m assuming the reference to the watch and the hair brush are about “The Gift of the Magi”, where the husband sells his watch to buy combs for his wife’s beautiful hair, which she has sold to buy a fine change for his watch, but I don’t get the wig on a chain bit.

It’s from the animated TV show “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” about one of the items on the Island of Misfit Toys – along with the elf who wants to be a dentist and a train with square wheels (also mentioned in the song) there is a squirt gun that only shoots jam.
